9) Overly perfect fruits and vegetables
In their natural state, fruits and vegetables are very healthy. But if they are coated with pesticides, they
actually are not. For istance, atrazine is a herbicide that has been banned in Europe, because it causes serious health problems. Yet, it is still in use in the United States. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that 98% of conventional agricultural production is contaminated with pesticides that cause cancer. Alternative: opt for organically grown fruits and vegetables and wash them well.
