15) Processed fats (trans fat)

Hydrogenated fats form when producers turn liquid oils into solid fats, through hydrogenation, which increases some products’ shelf life. You probably already know that hydrogenated fats cause cancer. In 2015 producers were given three years to remove partially hydrogenated fats (PHO) from their products. Alternative: better eating foods with a lower percentage of fat. Otherwise, opt for foods that contain saturated fats, such as butter. Just not too much.
