Sleeping well: the pros and cons of every position you sleep in

2) The prone position

Almost 5% of the world’s population sleep by laying down on its stomach, but this position could worsen lumbar lordosis. This is the least recommended position by specialists, because the deep groove created by the weight of the body, crushes the diaphragm, it’s unhealthy for the spine and can cause difficulty in breathing. The head, turned on one side, can cause cervical problems and muscle tension. If you just can’t give up this position, then add a support to your mattress and sleep without a pillow so that your body is on the same line as your skull. In short, avoid sleeping on your stomach.
